In response to the recent media report that ‘Cornwall is cut off from the rest of the country’ as storms such as “Hercules” lashed down and destroyed part of the local rail network, local businesses announced on social media sites, Twitter and Facebook that Cornish businesses were open with the hashtag #openforbusiness and to reinforce the message that Cornwall is accessible and operating and to further encourage holiday makers to visit the south west.
Bodyboard-School captured the Cornish spirit with their image and fun spirit with the caption “we’re not bothered about the weather, it’s Half term and we are #openforbusiness”
Bodyboard-School Director Rob Barber commented ‘We have spoken to a few concerned families who were planning on travelling down and we assured them there has been no major road disruptions and we were open and busy as usual. We have had a busy weekend with bodyboarding lessons and shop sales’. Our sister business Newquay Activity Centre has also delivered surf lessons, coasteering and surf hire through out the sunny weekend.
Rebecca Tolman drove down from The Wittering’s for her one to one bodyboard lesson with Rob which was held in the clean waves of Towan beach. She commented ‘What a beautiful day, I’ve had a great time and feel amazing, it’s the first time that I’ve been in the sea in 10 years and I didn’t feel the cold once, I’ll definitely be back for more!’
Rebecca has now booked up for the March bodyboard coaching trip to Morocco
